Troubleshooting
X bookmarks not loading, or disappeared
Six things cause this, and only one of them means something is actually gone. Work down the list before you panic.
Your bookmark list is empty on one device only
Bookmarks are tied to the account, not the device, so an empty list on one client almost always means you are signed into a different account than you think. Check the handle in the top corner, then sign out and back in. A stale app cache causes the same symptom: force-quit the app or hard-refresh the web page before assuming anything is lost.
The list loads but stops scrolling partway
Bookmarks load in pages. When you scroll fast through a long list, X sometimes stops fetching the next page and the list appears to end. Pull to refresh, or open the list on the web where paging is more reliable. This is a loading failure, not a deletion — the older posts are still saved.
Individual bookmarks show as unavailable
A saved post stops resolving when the post itself goes away. The author may have deleted it, deactivated or protected their account, or blocked you. The bookmark entry survives but has nothing to point at. Nothing warns you when this happens, and there is no way to recover the content from X.
Bookmarks disappeared after a period of heavy saving
Saving very quickly can trip X's general rate limits, which temporarily degrades what the client can load, including bookmarks. Wait an hour and check again before concluding anything is gone. Genuine mass deletion of bookmarks by X is not something the platform does.
You cannot find a bookmark you are sure you saved
Usually it is still there and search is the problem. Bookmark search matches only limited text, so a post whose value was in an image, a video or a long thread will not surface from a keyword you remember. Scroll by date instead — bookmarks are ordered by when you saved them, not when they were posted.
How do I stop losing saved posts for good?
Keep a copy outside X. Either export your bookmarks periodically, or have them sent to you somewhere permanent. Rewind emails every post you saved in the last seven days to you each Sunday, with a summary of each one — so even if the original is deleted later, the summary and the record of it stay in your inbox.
A copy that cannot vanish
Rewind emails the posts you saved each week back to you on Sunday, grouped by topic and summarised, so the record lives in your inbox rather than only inside X.
