How to export your X (Twitter) bookmarks
X does not have an export button for bookmarks. There are four realistic ways to get your saved posts out, and they differ a lot in effort and in what you end up holding.
1. Request your X data archive
Go to Settings and privacy, then Your account, then Download an archive of your data. X emails you a zip file, usually within 24 hours. Open data/like.js and the account files inside — the archive is a full account export and is the only official way to get a file from X, but its bookmark coverage is inconsistent and the format is raw JSON, not a readable list.
2. Copy the links by hand
Open Bookmarks on the web, open each post's share menu and choose Copy link, then paste into a note or spreadsheet. Reliable and free, but it only works for a few dozen posts before it becomes unbearable, and it captures the link without the text or the rest of a thread.
3. Use the X API bookmarks endpoint
The /2/users/:id/bookmarks endpoint returns your saved posts as JSON, 100 per page, once your account authorises an app with the bookmark.read scope. This is the only method that returns structured, complete bookmark data. It needs a developer account and code, so most people use a tool that already does it for them.
4. Have them emailed to you every week
Rewind authorises with that same read-only bookmark scope and emails you the posts you saved during the week, grouped by topic, each with a short summary and a link back to the original. It is an export you do not have to run — the file arrives as a readable email every Sunday.
| Method | Effort | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Data archive | One request, then wait | Raw JSON, inconsistent coverage |
| Manual copy | Minutes per post | A list of links, no text |
| X API | Developer account plus code | Complete structured data |
| Rewind | One authorisation | A readable email every Sunday |
Does X have a bookmark export button?
No. There is no built-in Export bookmarks option anywhere in the X apps or on the web. The closest official route is the full account data archive, which is not designed around bookmarks and does not present them as a clean list.
Can I export X bookmarks to CSV?
Not directly from X. To get a CSV you need to pull the bookmarks through the API and write them out yourself, or use a third-party tool that does that pull for you after you authorise it.
Is it safe to give a third-party tool access to my bookmarks?
It depends entirely on the scopes it asks for. A bookmark tool only needs read access to your bookmarks and profile. If a tool asks to post, follow, like, or read your direct messages, it is asking for more than the job requires. You can revoke any app from Settings, Security and account access, Apps and sessions.
Will exporting delete my bookmarks?
No. Reading or exporting your bookmarks never removes them. Your saved list stays exactly as it is until you unbookmark posts yourself.
Do exports include whole threads?
Usually not. Saving a thread on X saves the one post you tapped, so most exports give you a single post out of context. Rewind expands the thread around a saved post and summarises the whole thing.
An export that runs itself
Rewind reads your bookmarks with read-only access and emails the week's saved posts back to you on Sunday, grouped by topic, threads expanded, each with a link to the original.
