Guide
X (Twitter) bookmark folders
Folders let you file saved posts into named groups inside Bookmarks. They are private, they are manual, and each post can only live in one of them. Here is how to set them up — and where they stop helping.
1. Create a folder
Open Bookmarks from the side menu, tap the folder icon or the plus button in the top right, name the folder and save it. On mobile you can also long-press the bookmark icon under a post and pick a folder while saving.
2. Move a saved post into a folder
Long-press or tap and hold the bookmark icon under any post, then choose the destination folder. From inside Bookmarks, open a post's share menu and select the folder there. A post lives in one folder at a time.
3. Rename or delete a folder
Open the folder, use its menu and choose Edit to rename or Delete to remove it. Deleting a folder does not delete the posts inside — they go back to your main bookmark list.
Do you need X Premium for bookmark folders?
Bookmark folders launched as an X Premium feature and access has varied by plan and region since. If you do not see the folder icon in Bookmarks, your account or app version does not have it — everyone still gets the flat bookmark list, which is unlimited and free.
How many folders can I create?
Folders are generous in practice, but each saved post can sit in only one folder, and there are no nested folders or sub-folders. Filing is manual: nothing is sorted for you and there is no rule or automation.
Can other people see my bookmark folders?
No. Folders are as private as bookmarks themselves. Nobody can see your folders, their names, or what is inside them, and authors are never told that you filed their post.
Can I search inside a bookmark folder?
Bookmark search on X is limited and inconsistent across clients. Folders help you narrow a browse, but they are not a substitute for full-text search across everything you have ever saved.
Do folders actually solve the bookmark problem?
Only partly. Folders make a big list tidier, but they add filing work and they do not create a moment where you sit down and read what you saved. Most bookmark piles fail at the reading step, not the sorting step.
| What | Folders | Rewind |
|---|---|---|
| Sorting | Manual, one folder per post | Automatic topic grouping |
| Threads | Only the first post is saved | Whole thread, summarised |
| Reading moment | You have to remember to open them | One email, Sunday morning |
| Summaries | None | A short AI TL;DR per post |
Sorting is not reading
Rewind takes the posts you saved during the week and emails them back on Sunday, already grouped by topic, each with a short AI summary and a link to the original. No filing, no folders to maintain.
