Guide
How many bookmarks can you have on X?
Short answer: X publishes no cap, and lists in the thousands are normal. The real limit is not storage — it is that nobody can read a list that long.
Is there a limit on how many posts you can bookmark on X?
X does not publish a maximum number of bookmarks, and in practice people hold lists in the thousands without hitting a wall. The flat bookmark list is free and effectively unlimited for normal use.
So what actually limits bookmarks?
Three things bite long before any count does. Saving very fast can trip X's general rate limits for a while. Scrolling back through thousands of saved posts is slow and the list loads in pages. And bookmark search is weak, so a long list becomes practically unsearchable.
Do old bookmarks expire or get deleted?
Bookmarks do not expire. They only disappear when the underlying post disappears — if the author deletes it, deactivates, protects their account, or blocks you, the saved entry stops resolving. Nothing warns you when that happens.
Is there a limit on bookmark folders?
Folders are a Premium-tier feature with generous but manual limits: one folder per post, no nesting, and no automatic sorting. They tidy a long list rather than shorten it.
How many bookmarks does the API return at once?
X's bookmarks endpoint returns up to 100 saved posts per page, with a token to fetch the next page. Tools that read your bookmarks page through the list rather than getting it all in one call.
What should I do with a huge bookmark list?
Stop treating it as an archive to organise and start treating it as a weekly inbox. What you saved in the last seven days is the part that is still relevant. Rewind emails exactly that back to you on Sunday, grouped by topic, so the pile stops growing faster than you read it.
A weekly limit you set yourself
Rewind only ever looks at the last seven days of saved posts and emails them back on Sunday, grouped by topic, threads expanded, each with a link to the original.
