How to delete X (Twitter) bookmarks
Tap the bookmark icon under a post to remove it one at a time, or open Bookmarks and choose Clear all Bookmarks from the three-dot menu to empty the list completely. Deleting a bookmark never deletes the post, and there is no undo.
1. Delete one bookmark
Open Bookmarks from the left menu on x.com or the profile menu in the app. Find the post, tap the bookmark icon under it — the filled icon turns hollow and the post leaves your list immediately. You can also use the share icon and choose Remove Tweet from Bookmarks.
2. Clear all bookmarks at once
Open Bookmarks, then tap the three-dot menu in the top right of the Bookmarks screen and choose Clear all Bookmarks. Confirm. This empties the whole list in one action and cannot be undone — there is no trash or restore.
3. Empty a bookmark folder
Open Bookmarks, select the folder, then use the folder's menu to delete the folder. Deleting a folder does not delete the posts inside it: they return to your main bookmark list. To remove them entirely, unbookmark them or clear all bookmarks.
Can I undo deleting my X bookmarks?
No. X has no undo, no archive and no trash for bookmarks. Once you tap Clear all Bookmarks and confirm, the list is gone. The only recovery is finding each post again through search or your likes. If you want a durable copy, export or email them to yourself before clearing.
Does deleting a bookmark delete the post?
No. Bookmarking is a private, one-sided action. Removing a bookmark only removes the post from your saved list — the post stays on X, the author is not notified, and the post's public bookmark counter simply drops by one.
How do I delete bookmarks in bulk without clearing everything?
X offers no partial bulk delete. You either remove posts one at a time or clear the entire list. Some people work around this by moving keepers into a folder first, but folders do not protect posts from Clear all Bookmarks — copy anything important elsewhere before clearing.
Why do my bookmarks keep coming back or look out of sync?
The bookmark list is cached in the app. If a removed post still appears, pull to refresh, or force-close and reopen the app. Signing out and back in also forces a fresh fetch. Bookmarks are per-account, so check you are on the account you saved from.
Should I clear my bookmarks at all?
Clearing is a reasonable reset when the list has grown into hundreds of posts you will never open. The better long-term fix is to stop the pile forming: read the week's saves once, then let them go. That is exactly what Rewind does — one Sunday email with everything you saved that week.
Read them before you clear them
Most people clear their bookmarks because the list became unreadable, not because the posts were worthless. Rewind emails the posts you saved each week back to you on Sunday, grouped by topic with a short AI summary and a link to the original — so the list never has a chance to pile up.
